When the damage prevention workforce is screening dig tickets, they operate from a geocode provided from the one call center if an address isn’t provided. An address range doesn’t allow either the screener or the field technician to know the precise location of the dig. With parcel information and the UtiliSphere platform, the screener can determine the exact location of the dig and clear tickets if they aren’t touching their facility. If a field technician is required for verification, the technician is given the exact address of the parcel to perform the locate. Every ticket that can be cleared by using SmartParcel data before a technician is sent to perform the locate results in cost savings for the energy, gas and electric utility, and telecommunications and media companies. This new partnership gives companies a huge clearing advantage.
